Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance

Today we remembered both our daughter Sloane and our son Knox. At 7pm we lit a candle for not only our babies but all the other babies gone too soon. We love you both so much. One day we will meet again and this time I'll never let go.

Roadtrip!

The Mitchell's took a road trip. A good 12 hour road trip at that. We headed off to Atlanta Georgia for a long weekend to attend a Mitchell wedding. We left on a Wednesday night at 8pm right when Collins would be heading down for bed. I figured driving overnight would be our best bet with her, however it was a little difficult for Collins to get comfortable sleeping for that long period of time in her car seat, but she managed. She actually did so well, only woke up from 2am-4am to have a dance party and eat some snacks. Other than that she was taking turns watching Super Why on the ipad and dozing off.

Marty's brother Mike was the one getting married, Collins' Godfather. The wedding made for a long weekend however Collins did great. Party animal stayed up until 1130pm on the second night dancing the night away. I was definitely tired chasing her around but for having to be on her best behavior two nights in a row, I'd say she didn't do too bad. Marty didn't do too bad either :) he made one hell of a speech and I know he made his brother proud :)

On the way back we decided to make a full day of the open road. So we left early in the morning and made stops for breakfast, lunch, dinner and downtown Nashville so we could pick up Collins a snow globe. (We have been collecting snow globes for her since she was born from any state we've gone to or anyone else for that matter that remembers Collins).

Hey Knox!

•Collins•Glitter Review•Grandma Pip•

It has been such a crazy summer already. I knew going into the summer months we would be quite busy but I didn't think it was going to be hectic. June ended and July came in with a vengeance. Two weddings this month, countless birthdays & parties, and two road trips for the Mitchells.

First up, road trip to Wisconsin. Just call Collins and I roadies. We basically just followed Marty to Madison and tagged along while he worked. We were able to meet up with good friends for breakfast, then once Marty was done working we hit up the zoo and beach! It was only for two days but the three of us had so much fun!

As I mentioned before, July came with a vengeance and made all the hype and craziness of being busy to a drastic halt. My Grandma who was 84 passed away after fighting so hard for two weeks in the hospital. Those of you who knew my Grandma know how much she loved her life and just being around family. I am so thankful that Collins got to spend a lot of time with her great grandma and I know Grandma loved every single second of it. We love you Grandma more than you'll ever know and miss you more than ever. We know you are crazy busy up in heaven with Grandpa making sauce for everyone and I bet you got a little visit from Elvis on your birthday :) Take care of my babies and look down upon the rest of your family here on Earth. xoxo

I'm reaching but maybe Collins looks a little like me?!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Four Generations of amazing women :) Collins and I both hope to be as great as Nonna and Grandma

On top of everything else it was time to get ready for one of my good friend's weddings! It was the most relaxed, beautiful wedding I have ever been in. It was a great distraction having way too much fun with great friends :) I am so happy for Mary Beth and Houston and we wish them nothing but happiness in the years to come! Congratulations Howells!!

For those of you who follow me on Instagram we just started another giveaway! One of my favorites too. I am a girly girl and love all things glitter, and gold! Especially for Collins, I love when I can dress her up in something loud :) but tasteful of course. I partnered up with Molly over at JumpingandJellyBean  for an awesome Mama & Me giveaway. Come check it out on my instagram @mitchellncompany for your chance to win not only a bow for your little girl, your niece, your granddaughter whom ever, but also two mini gold clips for yourself!

Collins was lucky enough to get a whole bunch of clips for her collection. I am loving clips these days so I can pull back her long hair from her face. I am loving gold and anything glitter so when I came across Molly's shop I was super impressed with all she had to offer, and it doesn't stop there! Not only does she continue to add products to her shop she will also work with you to come up with whatever you have in mind. Collins' hair is super thin so bobby pins wouldn't stay in, so Molly worked with me and ended up putting her designs on alligator clips for us. I am pretty sure Collins has worn each and every clip we ordered every day now for the past week! Thank you Molly @jumpingandjellybean for collaborating with us and giving away my favorites!!

Collins is giving us a run for our money! She is almost starting to walk which I know once that happens I am in T.R.O.U.B.L.E! She may look like her daddy but she's got my attitude and those of you who know me are smiling and shaking your head, I can see you :)

Next up a 12 hour road trip to the ATL for our last wedding in July! Wish us luck :)

Manic Monday

Last Monday was like any other day. It was until the electricity went out at 7pm while Marty, Collins and I were having Taco Monday. As soon as the lights went out Collins started crying because apparently she's afraid of the dark. Marty and I lit a couple candles and we just figured the electricity would be back on momentarily. Bath time came a round 8pm along with her usual bottle of milk. We warmed up her milk quickly with hot water and gave her her bath all in the dark. Marty and I did what any other couple with a 1 year old with no electricity would do. We went to bed hoping that in the morning we'd wake up to all the fans and lights in the house to be on and running. 7am came quickly and still no power. That's when I went into beast mode...all 2500 ounces of my breast milk was downstairs in the deep freezer that wasn't on. Marty walk over accross the street to our neighbors who have a generator and see if they will take it all. Sure enough sweet Ken & his wife Penny took in all of my milk, and my awesome husband made the 4 trips :). Power came back on after 24 hours, Marty made another 4 trips back and all was well!

What better way to say thank you than a sweet card and some home made fudge (homemade as in from the farmers market) :) I have been browsing Treat which is a new greeting card website by Shutterfly Inc. We've all heard of Shutterfly before, where you can make those super cute photo books amongst other things. Well Treat offers specialized designs for personal greeting cards, birthday cards, e-cards, and what do you know thank yous and stationary! I was thrilled when I found the perfect everyday personalized stationary that I could use.

I got right to work on browsing exactly what I wanted in some stationary that I could use to send to those who in a pinch helped us out (Ken/Penny) or when Collins receives a gift in the mail a cute personalized thank you definitely goes a long way. Putting together my cards was a breeze. It was so easy to maneuver around the website and upload my photos. The photo I used was actually already uploaded through Shutterfly when I had printed it a few weeks back which made the process even easier. It took me about 10 minutes or so to complete my order. The hard part was all the browsing I did beforehand. Possibilities are endless on this new site, I found myself making a phone cover as well as a canvas! (All at very reasonable prices I might add).

My cards came within the week, perfect timing to send one to Ken & Penny to thank them for hoarding my milk ;)

Freshly Picked Review

With Collins being right around the corner from walking, it was my mission to find a great shoe that was not only functional but also fashionable. I am sure most of us have had our mother's share their opinion on the "old school" bulky white high top walking shoe that we all wore as kids. The theory was that these type of shoes provided that support that all kids needed in order to walk. However I've come to find that its actually preferred that kids have a soft soled, flexible shoe that allows for more movement.

Through a little bit of research via social media it was then that I found Susan and Freshly Picked Moccasins. Between all the different colors and adorable names for each it was hard to choose just one! (I also failed to mention that even though I waited until Collins was ready to walk these moccs come in itty bitty sizes for your babe as soon as coming home from the hospital :)). From Golden Rod (Yellow) to Glacier (light blue) to Radiant Orchid (deep purple) I want them all! Collins currently has Rose Gold our favorite and Coral both matching to all her summer outfits.

Since Collins isn't walking just yet she is scooting around all over and putting her moccasins on help keep her little tootsie's from getting scraped up. The wear of these moccasins even being scuffed across the floor is amazing.

As far as sizing goes Collins right now is wearing a size 4 with plenty of room to grow. On their website Freshly Picked they make it super easy to determine what size will be best for your littles along with a fool proof chart :) All I had to do was place Collins' feet on the chart and we had our size!

I cannot say enough great things about Susan and Freshly Picked. Susan has built her brand from the ground up right before everyone's eyes. Not only do the moccassins speak for themselves but the company over all was a pleasure working with. If you follow Susan on instagram @freshlypicked they are always adding new colors and have around the clock brand enthusiasts answering any and all questions!

So without further ado Collins' and I have been given the fabulous opportunity to give away one pair of freshly picked moccassins to one of my followers on instagram! Be sure to find me @mitchellncompany and follow me! Rules will be posted shortly! I cannot wait to give one of you a chance to see just what Collins' and I love about these moccs!

Collins' 1 year photos

Just like any photo shoot we have I always like to share them with all of you! Just like Collins' newborn and 6 month photos we had Kristina from Kristina Gerrish Photography do our family photos as well as Collins' 1 year. As always we couldn't be happier! I apologize in advance because it was hard to just choose a few so I choose many :)
